Located in the sacrum/below the belly button and associated with the colour Orange. It’s the hub of creativity and sexuality, and enables us to enjoy and enrich our lives!
When it’s balanced, you’ll find contentment in the pleasurable things life has to offer, and creativity and love are abundant! Good food, sex and creative activities will be inspiring and enjoyable, and you get a sense of wellness and abundance from them. Needless to say as humans we are fond of getting too much of a good thing!
Pleasure is a good thing, and you should never feel guilty for enjoying the good things life has to offer. However, if you find yourself enjoying things that aren’t nourishing for you mentally, or healthy for you, then your sacral chakra is probably out of balance. Often this Chakra can become overactive bringing up issues like addiction, obesity, hormone imbalances, and restlessness.

On the other end of the scale…If you’ve spent a lot of time focusing on very practical things without enjoying the fruits of your labour, your sacral chakra may be underactive. Symptoms of this include depression, impotence, fertility issues, decreased sex drive and a lack of passion and creativity.
IN A NUTSHELLL:
Physical signs of an issue here: Menstrual pain, infertility, Low sex drive, impotence, promiscuity, obesity, urinary and kidney problems, back pain, constipation.
Emotional signs of imbalance: Overactive: addiction, restlessness. Underactive: Lack of passion/creativity, lack of self esteem and self worth, depression, anger, jealously.
Concentrate your efforts on drawing energy away from the pleasure and into your heart. You can do this by asking yourself a simple question before each action you take…
Ask yourself,
“Is what I am about to do good for me? Is it healthy and nourishing? What are the benefits of the action I’m about to take? What would be a better alternative?”
Taking time to assess whether your actions are healthy is a great way to draw energy away from this chakra.

If you are trying to overcome addictions of any kind there is a huge network of support online and within the community. The first step is having a look, and deciding you want to make changes.
