A Little About Me…
Sally Anker – Yoga Teacher
After practicing yoga for around 10 years I finally decided to follow my heart in 2018 and become a teacher. I haven’t looked back since! I qualified as a yoga teacher in Brighton specialising in the Hatha and Vinyasa lineages of yoga, then going on to further my studies by learning about the amazing benefits of Yin Yoga. I’m always learning so I can serve you better by keeping my knowledge up to date and reaching out further into the community-since my Yin training I have qualified in pre and post natal Yoga, children’s yoga, baby massage and am currently completing a course studying accupressure.
I loved teaching in the Brighton area and took inspiration from the gorgeous surrounding landscapes of the coast and the Sussex Downs. In 2019 I moved back to my mother land, The New Forest! It was a killer to leave the seaside but fantastic to be near my family and the magical woodlands and wildlife of the forest!
Why Re-Root? Well, in addition to being unable to resist a pun and returning to my geographical roots! Yoga for me has always been about reconnecting with myself. Switching off to the world in my practice and finding that link again with the here and now, grounding down and feeling contentment with purely being. Breath. Movement. Awareness. Physical (Asana) practice is often this first step towards us taking this mentality into our everyday thoughts and actions helping us to KEEP IT REAL and spread those GOOD VIBES! I am hugely passionate about sharing this sense of calm through my teaching, connecting with the changing seasons and the nature around us and letting go of the stresses that our busy lives can so easily bring. In classes we explore postures and have lots of fun with movement too! Helping to develop an awareness of our body’s energy and abilities, and shushing that chattering mind!
Lastly, don’t forget Yoga is a practice. We are always practicing! We are never done or finished there is always more to learn, the body will always surprise you, and there are always more lessons to learn that we can take into our lives.
If you’d like to come along to a class or book in a 1-2-1 session get in touch, I’d love to hear from you!
Namaste,
Sally x
